Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed, on Saturday, decided to file for his re-election campaign as the President of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
The former president of Maldives submitted the candidacy form to MDP Secretary General Anas Abdul Sattar, alongside the required endorsement forms of MDP's general members.
MDP has scheduled internal elections for its leadership on November 22 as both Nasheed and MDP Vice President Mohamed Shifaz has completed their terms.
In addition, Shifaz, a Minister at the President's Office, will contest for his former position against Hithadhoo North MP Mohamed Aslam.
