Election Complaints Bureaus established in all atolls

Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has revealed complaints bureaus have been established in all the atolls for the upcoming Local Council Elections (LCE) and Women's Development Committee Elections (WDCE).
Vice President of ECM Ismail Habeeb said the bureaus will accept and resolve various complaints and concerns regarding the elections. He said the complaints unable to be resolved by the atoll bureaus will be sent to the National Complaints Bureau in Male' City. He added each bureau in the atolls will consist of three members.
ECM has established bureaus in all inhabited islands except in Male' as locals in the capital city can submit their complaints directly to the National Complaints Bureau. ECM has also opened opportunity for the candidates to sign voters' list for the LCE and the WDCE and will be sending the ballots to the islands next week.
ECM has revealed 273,128 people are eligible to vote in the LCE and WDCE, which have been postponed by an year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 3,934 candidates will contest in the elections to be held on April 10, including 2,264 candidates in the LCE and 1,670 candidates in the WDCE.
