If Maldivian musicians are promoting products that are injurious to health, then they are harming the society.
In all the countries, people follow the celebrities. Their fans will copy their actions. They love pictures of celebrities.
Health Protection Agency constantly says that energy drinks are injurious to health. They are asking not to promote such products. Even World Health Organization is making similar statements.
Housing Minister Dr.Muizzu have also said that he will not issue permission to promote energy drinks in public places of Male’. Health Minister Abdullah Nazim have repeatedly asked not to advertise energy drinks. Former Health Minister Iruthishaam Adam have several times explained the harmful effects of energy drinks.
XL is taking advantage of the first Maldivian Idol Laisha to promote their product now. They have started using a picture of Laisha on their XL can to lure more youth to drink this unhealthy drink. Even if they put Donald Trump or President Yameen’s picture and keep these drinks on the table of all judges and in all households, it will still be a harmful drink. The picture they use on the can does not change the ingredients.
Energy drinks causes diabetes and other dangerous diseases. Diabetes is among the most common non-communicable disease in Maldives. Hence, celebrities and media in Maldives should have some sort of social responsibility and should refrain from advertising such products just because a huge sum of money is offered.
XL is using Laisha to “slaughter” the health of Maldivian youth !
