Government allegation on Home Minister Umar Naseer for the act of disobedience has been revoked.
According to Prosecutor General office، upon requesting court to repeal the case it was already repealed by the court.
Allegation made Umar Naseer comes for his active participation in protests during the coup de’tat of Nasheed regime، with him provoking citizens to intrude into the Military premises via ladders.
Criminal court claimed Umar Naseer for persuading the attendees near Maldives Monetary Authority on 23rd January 2012، to advance the protests into possible riots.
In addition، Umar Naseer had urged the people to carry out these said activities near the premises of President Office، UN Office and Maldives National Broadcasting Corporation (MNBC).
The government’s claim also states that Umar had also urged for 2000 volunteers to take part in these activities under a constructive procedure، while he had spoken with the implication of using fifty of 12-feet tall ladders to use in order to intrude into MNDF premises.
Speaking at the hearing، plaintiff stated these words could provoke civil unrest and conflictions in nation and must be regarded as an act of civil disobedience.
While the case had been repealed from the court، Umar has denied the allegations made on him.
This marks the first time ever، a government minister has gone under trial.
