President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that Maldives will reach new heights of development and progress in the near year.
President Yameen made this remark in his address to the nation on the occasion of the New Year celebration.
He said that the budget passed by the Peoples’ Majlis is a very good budget which will bring much ease to the people and commence many development projects throughout the Maldives.
The President expressed hopes that the year 2015 will be an year which will bring happiness and prosperity to the people of Maldives.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Addu City Water project and the Mifco Fisheries Complex project, held in Hulhudhoo Sunday evening, the President noted that great responsibility was attached to every position of power.
He said that those elected to position by the people had a due to be paid to the people. In this regard, he stated that the highest accomplishment of serving in a position came in the satisfaction of being able to fulfill the needs of the people that were associated with the duties of that position.
The President said that the practical benefits of the policies of the government in the first year can be witnessed today.
