Fuvahmulak Prostitution Case: Woman ‘mediator’ arrested

A twenty-one year old local female from Fuvahmulak has been arrested regarding the case of blackmailing and prostitution of two minors in the island.
Maldives Police Service has confirmed on Sunday night that a 21-year old female was arrested، linked to the case، and has been remanded for 10 days in police detention pending investigation.
Sources in Fuvahmulak told Vaguthu that the woman، identified as Aminath Samaha، 21، was arrested for being the ‘mediator’ for the prostitution.
She is the mother of a two year old، for which، the sources have commented that، ‘the child should be handed over to the father’.
In addition to the woman، two local males، aged 24 and 25 were also arrested on Sunday، suspected of being involved in the matter.
Police raid in Fuvahmulak on Friday arrested 10 males – leading businessmen، 3 MDP activists، 1 PPM activists، journalists and members involved in gangs – were arrested for blackmailing and leading a ‘prostitution’ business of a 14 year old and a 16 year old girls.
All suspects have been remanded for 15 days in police detention pending investigation.
