Former President Mohamed Nasheed has announced that he will be contesting in the parliament election.
At a campaign event on Tuesday night, Nasheed said he will be running for the central Mahchangolhi seat.
Highlighting that he once vowed to return after his government was toppled on 7 February 2012, Nasheed said that this would be his return.
At the event, Nasheed said the 19th parliament will not be a parliament of theft and that no one can claim that MPs carry bags of money around.
Central Mahchangolhi is one of the two new constituencies to be introduced to parliament.
Nasheed’s Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has decided to contest in all 87 seats.
