Opposition government will revoke all unconstitutional laws: MP Fahmy

North-Maafannu MP Imthiyaz Fahmy, the spokesperson of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), has said that the opposition coalition will revoke all unconstitutional laws if elected.
He said this in front of RaajjeTV on Friday at the ceremony to open a fund for the TV station after the Maldives Broadcasting Commission imposed a MVR 2 million fine on RaajjeTV under the Anti-Defamation Act.
Speaking to the press, Imthiyaz said the laws passed by parliament that contradicts the Constitution is unlawful and that the opposition’s government will revoke the regulations that restrict press freedom and freedom of expression.
He also said that the MVR 2 million fine was a planned attack by the government and praised RaajjeTV for remaining steadfast.
The lawmaker also severely criticized the members of the broadcasting commission, saying that they weave flags for the ruling party at its campaign headquarters and that one of them was seen arranging chairs at a ruling party ceremony. He also said that none of them know anything about the freedom of the press.
