Member of Parliament Abdul Sattar Mohamed has been elected as the Chair of the Parliament’s Judiciary Committee.
The Judiciary Committee elected Abdul Sattar Mohamed as its Chair on Wednesday, following the resignation of Member of Parliament Husnee Mubarik from the committee earlier the same day. Husnee Mubarik resigned from the committee after being elected as the Parliament’s representative to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Abdul Sattar Mohamed was elected Chair by a majority vote of committee members during a meeting held on Wednesday. He previously served as the Vice-Chair of the committee.
The committee also elected Member of Parliament Mohamed Mamdhooh as its new Vice-Chair.
The Judiciary Committee of Parliament is mandated to oversee the functioning of the judiciary, including the work of the Judicial Service Commission.
