President Muizzu Returns from Qatar After Attending Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has returned to Malé following his official visit to Qatar, where he participated in the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit held in Doha on 15 September 2025.
During the Summit, convened by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), President Muizzu strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Qatar, calling it a crime against humanity and an affront to the dignity of the Arab and Islamic world. He reiterated the Maldives’ unwavering solidarity with Qatar and Palestine, urging urgent international action to hold Israel accountable for its actions and to ensure lasting peace and justice in the region.
On the sidelines, the President met with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of Qatar, to express condolences over the fatalities caused by the attack and to reaffirm support for Qatar’s leadership. The leaders also discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The visit reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to upholding human dignity and international law, and further strengthened ties between the Maldives and Qatar.
