MVR 2.4 million for president and delegation's visit to China

Maldives government said on Thursday that MVR 2.4 million was spent on the State visit by the first couple and their delegation to China.
Under the current administration’s policy to be transparent about the expenditures of official trips, the state has publicized how much the trip by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, and his delegation of thirty officials had cost.
China had covered the cost of accommodation and food during this trip. The Maldivian government covered for flight tickets and pocket money.
In the trip from Maldives to China, three people travelled in business class while the remaining 27 people were in economy class. The return trip comprised of 10 people in business class and 19 in economy class. The total for these tickets amounted to MVR 2.4 million.
The delegation was allotted MVR 10,0165.5 per head as pocket money, with an additional MVR 14,000 issued to purchase SIM cards and VPN. MVR 89,000 was spent on incidental costs.
President Muizzu received USD130 million in grants for Maldives during his visit to China, and development agreements worth billions of dollars were signed for some sectors as well.
