The Police Cyber Crime Center has issued a warning regarding an increase in Google account hacks through fraudulent scam links targeting users.
The scam links falsely claim to be login portals for the Gedhoruveryaa Portal but instead prompt users to enter their Google account credentials, exposing passwords to scammers. Authorities clarified that the official Gedhoruveryaa Portal operates exclusively through e-Faas login and does not send such links.
To protect themselves, users are strongly urged to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on their Google accounts. The Cyber Crime Center requests that any suspicious links be reported immediately by calling 911.
Additionally, the Police have reported a surge in Telegram account hacks via phishing links disguised as photo messages. These phishing attempts request phone numbers and one-time passwords (OTP), which scammers use to seize control of Telegram accounts and propagate further scams.
Police advise users to enable two-step verification on Telegram and to ignore and avoid clicking on suspicious links, even if they appear to come from trusted contacts.
