The PNF announced the event with a post titled "Wake Up" on its official media group on Saturday, which has since been widely shared by senior party leaders on social media. The rally's date and location were officially revealed on Thursday evening.
Former President Yameen is confirmed to attend the rally. This marks a significant step for the PNF, which has previously held a series of weekly rallies exclusively at their party office.
Yameen formed the PNF and registered it on March 25 of last year, less than a week after the PNC came to power, following his resignation as the coalition leader. Since its inception, Yameen and his close associates have been vocal critics of the current government on various issues.
The PNF faced government obstruction during its inaugural congress last year, with police reportedly closing Ghiyasuddin School and blocking entry to members and election officials. This forced the party to hold informal "sitting room" meetings, a term coined by opposition since Yameen held meetings at his own residence.
