Qatar Airways resumes Maldives flights after airspace disruptions

Qatar Airways has resumed flights to the Maldives following a temporary suspension caused by airspace closures linked to the Middle East conflict.
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) confirmed that flights recommenced today, with daily services now scheduled.
Qatar Airways accounts for a significant share of tourist arrivals to the Maldives. The airline stated that the resumption of flights will strengthen connectivity for passengers travelling to destinations across the Middle East, Europe and the United States. It also noted that passengers travelling until 15 June will be able to make changes to their bookings with ease.
Speaking at a press conference this week, Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim said that despite a decline in the number of travellers to the Maldives, both seat capacity and occupancy rates have shown marked improvement. He added that daily flight cancellations have now decreased to between 16 and 20.
