Land reclamation has been completed for the fifth phase of road development for Boduthakurufaanu Magu, the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated.
MTCC has stated that currently, sewerage systems, drainage pipes and streetlights are being installed, and that brick pavements are also being constructed.
The company has detailed that 50 percent of pavements and potholes for electric cable junctions have been currently completed, with these works scheduled to be finalised by next week.
Sheet piling for segments two, three and four are ongoing according to plan, MTCC has informed, with 145 metres done presently. Drainage systems will also be set in place after the completion of sheet piling.
The third section of development of Boduthakurufaanu Magu involves segments two to five, located from Izzudheen Jetty to Henveiru Ferry Terminal. This spans a total length of 700m, with 610m of inland roads to be upgraded. Segment five of Boduthakurufaanu Magu has now reached 45 percent completion, MTCC stated.
This initiative is an important step taken by the government to reduce congestion on roads and facilitate mobility, changing the landscape of Northern Male’.
