Maldivian Red Crescent Commences 13th Annual General Meeting

The Maldivian Red Crescent (MRC) has commenced its 13th Annual General Meeting.
MRC holds its annual general meeting every two years. This year's session is held as a two-day event held at Meerumaa Hall in Male’.
Speaking at the event’s opening ceremony, MRC’s Interim President Rashidha Ali noted that the MRC has been in service for 15 years, providing extensive humanitarian services across the country during this period. MRC has achieved significant successes as an exemplary organisation serving humanity, backed by the most number of volunteers, she said.
Rashidha said the success of the past 15 years stem from MRC's commitment to humanity and adherence to its seven fundamental principles, as well as working together for charity. She also noted MRC’s close cooperation with government agencies, as required under the organisation’s charter.
Rashidha further noted that MRC’s services are focused on disaster preparedness, emergency response, psychological first aid, health and fitness promotion, youth empowerment and climate change awareness and preparedness. These initiatives aim to empower communities, increase their capacity to respond to disasters while mitigate potential damage, she said.
MRC’s two-day Annual General Meeting is attended by representatives from various branches of the MRC and senior members of the association. The meeting will discuss and approve MRC’s strategic plan for the coming years and elect new leadership. The meeting will also review the work done in the past years and prepare for future challenges.
