Mental health helpline provides aid to 3004 persons in one year

The mental health helpline 1677 has attended 3004 calls over the past year.
In a post on social media, the Ministry of Health announced that the 24 hour mental health helpline, established on February 21, 2024, has provided support and guidance to 3004 callers to date.

The Ministry said then that their aim in establishing this helpline is to provide support in overcoming various challenges faced in life and other different psychological difficulties faced by individuals through providing mental health first aid services via a phone call, and through this, promoting psychological wellbeing.
Additionally, the helpline is designed to provide psychosocial support and assistance to persons faced with psychological challenges of any type, providing them a safe space to share their thoughts and gain support.
The helpline offers support to persons of all ages. Where necessary, they provide referrals for further treatment.
