Ahmed Ali has formally stepped down from his role as the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education.
It has been revealed that on Thursday, Ahmed submitted a letter to both the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and the Ministry of Education, announcing his resignation. This decision follows his suspension in connection with an ongoing investigation led by the CSC.
Ahmed faced suspension on the 3rd of the previous month following a complaint lodged with the CSC. Opting to resign prior to the completion of his one-month suspension, Ahmed articulated in his letter that, despite having discharged his duties as permanent secretary in adherence to legal provisions and regulations, he believed resignation was the most prudent course of action to maintain civility.
Nevertheless, the CSC had already previously conducted investigations into Ahmed's involvement in matters concerning changes to the roles of teachers and principals. As a result of the inquiry, the commission issued a final warning to Ahmed at the time.
Ahmed Ali assumed the position of Permanent Secretary of Education on June 13, 2019. His five-year term was set to conclude this June.
