"Nasheed never honoured court orders" – Ali Arif

Ali Arif، the spokesperson of the ruling party، Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has stated the former president and the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) leader Mohamed Nasheed ‘never respected the orders of a court’.
Speaking at the press conference held at PPM office today، Ali Arif said the trial of Nasheed is proceeding the same as the trials of others.
Arif said that courts had issued many orders to summon President Nasheed، however، he had disregarded the orders and opted to ‘hide’.
“He found refuge in India High Commission for 11 days after court issued an order. He then fled and hid in Gaaf Dhaal Faresmaathodaa. He had never honoured a court order،” Arif said.
Ali Arif further stated he saw the arrest warrant of Nasheed on Social Media، and the court issued the order after evaluating on the past events with regards to court orders and Nasheed.
In addition، Arif said the same procedures are applied to those who refuse to attend the court proceedings.
