Nasheed’s sentence to be appealed in High Court

The lawyers have stated that they will be appealing for 13 years of Jail sentence imposed on Nasheed due to terrorism charges against Nasheed was proven.
The presiding bench of 3 judges took the decision of 13 years of Jail due to the charges pressed against Nasheed for illegally detaining and isolating the chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdulla Gaazee، was proven.
The lawyers’ team of Nasheed stated that once they have received the summary of how the trial was concluded، they will appeal in the high court.
Nasheed has been proven guilty under Article 2(b) of the Terrorism Penal Code and has been sentenced under Article 6(b) of the same Code.
The sentence issued by Criminal Court states that Nasheed was the one who issued the illegal detention and isolation of Abdulla Gazee and it is proven through the letters provided as evidence.
The statement further states the documentary evidence presented against Nasheed confirms that Nasheed was the one who planned the unlawful detention of Abdulla Gaazee and Nasheed cannot nullify the evidences provided.
