Kulhudhufushi Uthuru constituency MP, Abdul Ghafoor has said that the purpose of the constitution is not to blindly submit to all orders of the head of state.
He made this remark speaking at “Maldivians against tyranny,” rally. He said that laws are made and written so that the people are not compelled to follow whatever the leader wants.
Abdul Ghafoor said that the security forces should think deeply regarding this and should take full responsibility of their oaths to protect the constitution and serve the people.
He said that no one should be intimidated by the government and no one should be threatened with losing his or her job.
“The security and peace and stability should be restored. The people should be given the protection they require. The government has failed in all of this. The government keeps on lying in the face of the people without any shame whatsoever,” he said.
