Kaashidhoo Constituency MP Faisal Naseem has stated that with many of the youth are engaged in criminal activities, addressing causes of crime become even more vital. MP Faisal added that if the situation as not addressed then the Government will always rely on a system of pardoning.
He made the statement in the debate session of the Parliament on the act on pardoning the sentences of criminals.
Faisal stated that he supported pardoning lesser crimes. However, he said that we have to reflect on why youth had entered jail on lesser crimes. He added that if this was not addressed and if a solution was not found, then we will have to reflect on the issue over and over again.
Faisal added that one of the root causes of petty crimes was the issue of drugs and as such, this also had to be addressed.
