Youth Minister appeals all companies to develop their staff

Minister of Youth and Sports Ahmed Zuhoor has stated that as there was a large number of private businesses in the country, those companies should be invested in developing their human and knowledge capital.
He made the statement speaking in the ceremony held to award 26 students with the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Program.
Minister Zuhoor stated that each company had a social responsibility and as such should be invested in developing their human capital for the betterment of the nation.
He noted that the Apprenticeship Program has been carried out by Dhiraagu from 2009 onward quite successfully. Minister Zuhoor thanked Dhiraagu for their program and for the guidance the company had provided to their graduates. He urged other companies to adopt this method and create structured programs for youth.
Zuhoor said that a degree was not enough for work place success and that practical experience was required to elevate what the youth had gained from that degree. He appealed to the participant to reap the full benefits of the program.
Minister Zuhoor stated that with the 94,000 jobs Government had pledged would expand the economy. Therefore, he said that it was vital that applicants need to be trained for the jobs.
