The youth who openly carry out initiatives and programmes against drug abuse in Maldives will be given special awards in the future، President Abdulla Yameen said.
Speaking at the “Kulhivaru Manifesto Yageen” function held last night، President Yameen said the government has brought changes for the youth award criteria to enforce expansion for youth’s socio-economic initiatives.
Continuing his speech on the topic، President said that awards in education، health and environment sectors have been streamlined.
“[…] We have now selected special focus skills for Youth Awards instead of the wider sectors.”
He said the awards will be given for youth ‘role models’ who are undertaking financially benefiting and youth-oriented works.
The special categories selected for next year’s youth awards include، youth who are openly advocating against drug abuse، youth who are advocating against tobacco and smoking، youth who are undertaking initiatives nation-wide on crime reduction، youth and volunteers who are undertaking special programmes on family empowerment.
In addition، President expressed hopes that more ‘role model’ youth would be formed with the change brought to the structure of youth award criteria.
