Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has arrived in Bangkok on an official visit to Thailand from October 15-17.
Minister Shahid is visiting Bangkok on an invitation from Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand Don Pramudwinai. The visit commemorates the fortieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between Maldives and Thailand.
During the visit, Minister Shahid will be holding bilateral talks with his Thai counterpart on strengthening and further expanding the bilateral cooperation between the two countries. He will also be hosting an official reception to mark the opening of the Embassy of Maldives in Thailand.
The opening of the embassy will commence a new chapter in the bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in facilitating better services for Maldivians visiting Thailand. The embassy will promote the socio-economic and commercial interests of Maldives, the export of Maldivian products and services, while assisting businessmen, workers and investors of both countries.
While in Thailand, the foreign minister will reaffirm the commitment of Maldives to strengthen the strong economic synergies between the two countries.
