Maldives' Youth Ministry has decided to give a second chance to revive several non-governmental organisations (NGOs), including some which have been inactive for years.
A statement issued by the ministry today said they have decided to extend another opportunity for organisations that have not conducted any activities due to not submitting documents to the registrar as per regulations.
According to the announcement, 55 inactive organisations registered between 1971 and 1991 have been given the opportunity. The ministry said these include various Malé school organisations and some NGOs from within the atolls.
These organisations have six months to submit their documentation before the ministry permanently dissolves them.
