Male’ Taxi Line launches official website for streamlined booking

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has officially launched a new website for its Male’ Taxi Line service, marking a significant step in modernising urban transportation in the capital region.
The move is designed to strengthen the service by offering residents and visitors a faster, more efficient way to book and pay for rides.
According to an announcement on X, customers can now easily book taxis through the dedicated website, http://mtl.mtcc.mv. The company stated that the platform allows for bookings and secure payments to be completed within seconds. For those who prefer telephone service, the existing hotline (1655) remains operational.
The service will continue to operate at the government-mandated fares set by the Ministry of Transport.
Travel within Male’, Hulhumale’ Phase 1, and Hulhumale’ Phase 2: USD 1.95
Male’ to Hulhule’ (Velana International Airport) and vice versa: USD 4.54
Hulhumale’ Phase 1 to Hulhule’ and vice versa: USD 5.19
Male’ to Hulhumale’ Phase 1 and vice versa: USD 5.51
Male’ to Hulhumale’ Phase 2 and vice versa: USD 6.49
Payment is integrated into both booking methods. Customers calling the hotline receive a payment link via SMS, while those using the website can pay directly on the platform.
The Male’ Taxi Line service was officially inaugurated by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on 2 April. To celebrate the launch, all trips were offered free of charge from 3 to 17 April, with standard fares taking effect from 18 April.
MTCC emphasised that the service is a planned, technology-driven system. Taxis cannot be hailed directly from the roadside as all rides must be pre-booked. This model, tracked and monitored with modern technology, is intended to enhance reliability and security, significantly reducing issues such as belongings left in vehicles.
MTCC is developing a dedicated mobile application to further expand and simplify the service, promising additional convenience for users in the near future.
