High Achievers Scholarship recipients to receive additional allowance

High Achievers Scholarship students will now receive an additional USD 390 allowance on top of their stipend.
The Ministry of Higher Education has introduced changes to both the High Achievers Scholarship and the Presidential Special Scholarship policies to encourage top-performing students to remain in the country while studying.
The eligibility criteria for the High Achievers Scholarship now requires high grades (at least four As and one A*) across five subjects including SSC Dhivehi or Islam, and a minimum C pass in English. Previously, the requirement was an A grade in all five subjects.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Scholarship policies have been updated such that students can study in fields listed in the Maldives’ Training Needs Requirement List while the old policy allowed students to choose any field and university they wished. Presidential Scholarship recipients must serve the government for 4–7 years after studies, or repay the cost of their education.
