Hussain Afeef has been elected Chairperson of the Executive Board of the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI).
Afeef was elected to the post during MATI’s 36th Annual General Meeting, held at Kurumba Maldives. The AGM was attended by 112 members, along with key stakeholders from ministries, agencies, and tourism-related companies.
In his opening speech at the event, Afeef highlighted MATI’s long-standing role in developing the Maldives’ tourism sector and pledged to further expand its role in the future.
Following Afeef’s speech, Secretary General Ahmed Nazeer presented MATI’s annual report. A special tribute was paid to the late Mohamed Umar Manik, the former Chairperson of MATI, who was honoured as MATI’s first “Member of Honour”.
The AGM approved the minutes of the 35th AGM, the Annual Report 2025 and financial statements. The Executive Board for 2026–2029 was also elected, and the 2026 budget was approved. Faris & Co. LLP was appointed as the auditor for the year.
