Villa Air has condemned Maldives Labour and Social Democratic Party (Labour Party), for accusing it of unfair dismissal of an employee.
The party’s secretary general had, at a press conference last week, announced that it had filed a case against the company for the unlawful termination of a senior employee. He said that the employee was fired against the Employment Act, without prior notice.
Villa Air condemned this, saying that “no institution has yet ruled that the company had dismissed an employee unlawfully.”
It added that the fact that a case has been filed at the Employment Tribunal “does not mean that the company has been found guilty.”
Further noting that its main priority is providing quality service for the passengers, from all its employees, Villa Air said that there are circumstances where it is forced to let go of employees due to their failure to do so. However, the company added that it always follows all regulations, when dismissing an employee.
