In the ITB tourism fair held in Germany، a campaign has been launched as “Visit Maldives Year 2016” to promote Maldivian tourism globally، stated Tourism Minister Adheeb.
In an interview given to ITB Berlin News، Adheeb has stated that this year is the golden jubilee of Maldives as a free nation and as well the ITB fair is celebrating its 50th Anniversary. He further affirmed that it is a privilege to sponsor the ITB fair in its 5oth Anniversary.
Adheeb has stated that “tourism plays the main role in the development of Maldives and working as a partner in ITB’s 50th anniversary is an honor”.
Adheeb has further stated that “the campaign has been launched with regard to 50 years of freedom and the aim of the project is to market Maldives globally as the Visit Maldives Year”.
He has shared further information regarding the tourism sector of Maldives with the ITB News: The Thunburi Guest House Island Project initiated in 2014، has sold 16 out of 20 lands allocated to build hotels and one of the 3 lands to build Water Villa has been bought by the investors while bidding proposal is carried out to other two.
He further acknowledged that the resorts in Maldives are built creatively in which underwater restaurants، spa treatment rooms and Water Villa’s with pools are included.
Adheeb has stated that Maldives has boosted tourism by 7.1% compared to previous year and China and Germany are the biggest market for Maldives. He added that from Germany، 93،958 tourists have visited Maldives which contributed to 8.3% of Maldives market share.
