Noonu Atoll Velidhoo Magistrate court has sentenced man found guilty of using dangerous weaponry and imposing threats to jail for a period of 1 year and 6 months.
Velidhoo Magistrate court had ruled against Ahmed Kaleem، 38، Dhanvaruge، N. Velidhoo on 14th May.
According to Velidhoo Magistrate court، Ahmed Kaleem has denied the charges however based on evidence collected against him and eyewitness accounts collected against Kaleem proves that he is guilty of using dangerous weapons to inflict fear.
Under the dangerous weapons possession act، 1st number of 2nd article states the individual found guilty of the said offense will receive a total of 6 months time in jail while، the 6th number of the same article states individual found guilty of the relevant offense will receive a jail time of 1 year، thus Ahmed Kaleem’s life sentence for the complete offense is 1 year and 6 months.
Ahmed Kaleem had been sentenced to exile for 11 years for being guilty of looting cash worth more than MVR 10،000 with the aid of a group of vandals using weaponry.
