One girl among the minors used for prostitution in Fuvahmulak was a victim of attempted sexual molestation by her father، a source told Vaguthu.
The source، who is a close relative of the girl، said that، an year back، she revealed that her father attempted to sexually abuse her.
According to the source، the girl had an incident where her father ‘came from behind and hugged her while she was changing her clothes’، as well as attempted to enter into the bathroom with her، after which the girl ‘stormed out’ of the house.
The source said the girl and her father sleeps in one room.
However، the source said the talks of the girl was not taken seriously، nor shared to anyone or reported to any authorities.
Another close relative of the girl told Vaguthu that the girl was a victim of attempted sexual abuse by her father، adding that the rumours in the island say that the girl is a drug addict and does prostitution، in Fuvahmulak، Addu and in Male’.
He further said، he is unaware whether the girl does it with or without blackmailing، and that she is an ‘item’ at the ‘parties’ organized by the youth in the island.
