President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka H.E. Mr Maithripala Sirisena, concluded his State Visit to the Maldives this morning. The Sri Lankan President was seen off at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs H. E. Ms Dunya Maumoon and H. E. Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim, the Minister-in-attendance for the President.
President Sirisena visited the Maldives on the invitation of H E President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom to participate in the celebrations of the Golden Jubilee of National Independence, which also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
President Sirisena attended the official ceremony to mark the Golden Jubilee and the official banquet hosted by the President and First Lady last night. President Sirisena also paid a courtesy call on President Yameen during his visit.
