The President’s Office has stated that action will be taken against individuals who are making false accusations against President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in connection with the assassination attempt on Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed.
Speaking at a press conference, the Spokesperson at the President's Office Miuvaan Mohamed said that the blame for the assassination attempt is being placed on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in order to regain lost political support by some individuals. He said action will be taken against individuals who are making false accusations against President Solih in connection with the attack.
Many of the perpetrators have been charged and tried following the terrorist attack inflicted on Nasheed on May 6, 2021. There have been investigations involving various parties but no report or investigation has revealed any negligence or involvement of the government.
