9 children and 16 people onboard stranded boat transported to Naifaru

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) states nine children and 16 onboard ‘Lifeline’ boat, which got stranded at sea while en route to Lh. Naifaru from Male’ has been safely transported to the island.
MNDF rendered assistance to the vessel with 40 onboard upon receiving a report at approximately 8:15am this morning after it got stranded east of K. Kaashidhoo due to an engine stall.
According to the authority, nine children, six women and 10 men aboard the vessel were transported to Naifaru at approximately 13:10pm this afternoon.
They were transported to Naifaru by MNDF's Northern Area Command’s Coastguard’s First Squadron’s two harbor craft boats and a gulf craft boat.
MNDF states all onboard the vessel are in good health, adding efforts are underway to tow the stranded vessel to Naifaru harbor using another boat.
