The Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions has concluded to bring the case concerning the removal of Mohamed Fazeen from his position as Vice President of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC) to the floor of the parliament for a decisive vote.
The decision regarding the potential dismissal of Fazeen will now undergo a parliamentary vote. This conclusion was reached during the committee's meeting on Wednesday evening, with unanimous support from all attending members.
PSM News has learnt that the case under investigation involves allegations of sexual harassment against Fazeen. The committee meetings related to this investigation have been held behind closed doors, resulting in limited public disclosure of the allegations.
Although the committee did not divulge the specifics of its deliberations during the Wednesday meeting, a member confirmed to PSM News that the discussions centred on Fazeen's case. Additionally, the committee has resolved to grant Fazeen the opportunity to present his defence against the allegations levelled against him.
