High Court of the Maldives have said that the remand for Lucas Jaleel was extended lawfully.
Lucas was arrested with a court warrant for inciting violence against security services of the country. His remand has been extended twice now. When he was remanded for the second time his lawyers appealed the case at high court. However High Court decided today that it was extended lawfully.
The High Court verdict says that، judges should look into the greater good of the society rather than the rights of the individual only. It further said that، police submitted enough evidence against Lucas to criminal court.
Lucas Jaleel is an MDP activist who often uses profane language on social media.
