Adhalath Party has decided not to take part in the local council elections that is scheduled to take place on 8th April.
After a meeting of the Party’s consultative council they released a statement last night saying that participating in the elections would be legitimizing an unfair election. It further said that, they strongly condemn this election and that this election is an act of crime committed against the people.
It also said that, the government has corrupted the party system and that they do everything in a way that will benefit the ruling party. Also, the purpose of the April elections is not to conduct the elections as stipulated by the constitution, but as a way to get specific people get appointed to the councils.
Previously Adhalath Party was planning to make a coalition with MDP and run for 147 council seats. The election which was planned forJanuary 14 was delayed due to a civil court ruling after PPM filed a case to the course asking to delay it.
