The 19th parliament will establish a policy for resort workers to visit their family during their off-duty, says Mohamed Nasheed, former president and leader of ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Nasheed said this while speaking at the campaign event for Jeehan Mohamed, who is contesting the Hinnavaru seat in MDP’s primary election.
Speaking at the campaign event, Nasheed said that the new policy will allow resort workers to stay overnight with their family and that islands and resorts need to be connected for this policy to work.
Regarding the fishing industry, Nasheed said that fishermen have not been getting an adequate amount for their catch and that the next parliament will resolve to solve this issue.
Nasheed said that guesthouse businesses will be established in Hinnavaru and that Hinnavaru, Naifaru, and Madivaru will be linked within five years.
He also said that the 19th parliament will work to fulfill President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s pledges and that it was important that MDP gets the majority in parliament.
Nasheed had earlier joined Jeehan’s campaign launching event and this makes it the first time he has participated more than once in campaign events of a MDP primary candidate.
