IMTM Private Limited on Sunday, made announcement of the next International Maldives Travel Market (IMTM) to go virtual.
Moreover, as per the organizer the IMTM 2020 event will be hosted virtually on 28 and 29 October 2020.
As per the announcement made while commemorating the World Tourism Day, reads the current year’s event will be “first of its kind concept of online travel and trade fair in the Maldives.”
Meanwhile, IMTM as a travel and trade fair plays an instrumental role in bringing international stakeholders to one platform.
The fair attracts international stakeholders such as tour operators, agents, destination management companies, PR firms and such.
Moreover, these firms and agencies get to use the platform and liaise with tourist establishments and companies.
IMTM’s decision to go virtual comes amid the persisting Covid-19 global pandemic.
“This virtual exhibition is a part of IMTM’s broader plan to gradually reopen the travel, tourism and hospitality sector to new markets”, said IMTM.
Earlier, Maldives tourism industry came to blows with regards to economic activities due to the viral pandemic.
Tourist arrivals to the country observed visible decline as the pandemic’s outbreak worsened.
