A MVR 10،000 worth Fish Race has kicked off at Thaa Atoll Veymandoo in commemoration of Youth Day.
According to Veymandoo Council، the Fish-Race is an initiation of Veymandoo Council and the island’s Police Unit، which had kicked off at 13:00hrs today and will last until 21:00hrs tonight. The Fish-Race is held in commemoration of International Youth Day.
In addition to this، Veymandoo Council had added that the aim of the Fish-Race is to create and strengthen the bond and relationship between the people of Veymandoo and create a healthy sportsmanship between the island’s public.
While explaining about the competition، Veymandoo Council had detailed that the participants are subjected to catch fish that are permitted by the state، and any team that catches any game which is a prohibited species to fish in Maldives، will be immediately disqualified.
A total of 10 fishing boats had taken part in today’s event.
