PG submits case at Supreme Court to arrest Ameen

Prosecutor General’s office has submitted a case at the Supreme Court to arrest the Deputy Leader of the Jumhooree Party, Ameen Ibrahim.
Ameen Ibrahim was arrested following the Mayday protest on the charges of trying to overthrowing the government and instigating the protestors to use violence against the security forces.
The next day, the court remanded Ameen to be kept in detention for another fifteen days.
The Deputy Leader of Jumhooree Party was released on May 14 following the verdict of the High Court when the remand case was appealed.
The High Court verdict stated that the three judges of the bench unanimously agreed that there was no evidence provided by the Police that Ameen made any such remarks during the protest as he was accused.
Media Official of the PG Office said that that the appeal case of the High Court verdict has been submitted at the Supreme Court. He said that the Supreme Court has yet not informed them whether the case has been accepted or not.
