Rector of Villa College Dr.Ahmed Anwar have said that they have started offering UK courses at Villa College to international students at relatively low fees.
Speaking to Miadhu News, Dr.Anwar said that the courses of University of West England offered at Villa costs 13,500 dollars if taken at the United Kingdom. He said that with living expenses it will cost 27,000 dollars per year to study the same course offered at Villa in UK.
Dr.Anwar said that Villa College offers the same courses in Maldives for around 2200 dollars per year. Dr.Anwar said that campuses of Villa College in Naifaru, Mahibadhoo, Maandoo, Fuvahmulah, Hithadhoo and Meedhoo offers these courses.
Dr.Anwar said that each of these campuses are located in islands that are as beautiful as tourist resorts of Maldives. In addition, he said that it will cost around 200 dollars per month to live in one of these islands and per year it will cost only 4,400 dollars for the course fee and living expenses.
“Hence this is a good opportunity for international students. A good opportunity to obtain a UK degree in a destination that is famously known as paradise on earth. Such a pleasant environment could not be found elsewhere in the world” said Dr.Anwar.
Dr.Anwar said that since there is an international airport at Addu City and there are scheduled flights to Addu from Colombo, Addu City has lot to offer for international students.
Dr.Anwar said that they will develop the campuses based on the support they get from international students. He said that they can even offer accommodation. “Even now accommodation is available. That is not an issue” said Dr.Anwar.
Even now there are some international students at Villa College.
Dr.Anwar met with Addu City council recently and offered to build an accommodation block for Villa College students.
