President Yameen Abdul Gayoom states، the corporate or business relation with India will be now formed with China as well، following the signing of ‘free trade agreement’ between China and Maldives.
According to President Yameen، Maldives and China are currently in discussion to develop a free trade area. He made the statement while attending the opening ceremony of China South Asia Business Forum at Kunming، Yunnan Province.
In President Yameen’s speech، he assured that the introduction of a free trade area، would cement a trade bond between Maldives and China، which is similar to that of the trade relation between India، adding the project will attract more investors and businesses towards Maldives.
 
President Yameen had also noted that the five mega-projects announced by Maldives during the first ever International Investment Forum organized by Maldives، at Singapore last year، stating all the five projects announced has commenced to various levels.
After the first investment forum at Singapore، a second investment forum is planned by Maldives to be held at Beijing، before the end of 2015، says President of Maldives.
