Former President Mohamed Nasheed، currently in UK on a medical leave، is set to speak at the the inauguration ceremony to open the Commonwealth Journalists Association Conference on Tuesday.
According to President Nasheed’s office، he will be speaking on the important role of the journalist in democracy and good governance، as well as the important role of Commonwealth on enhancing the freedom of press in countries.
In addition to Nasheed، the inaugural ceremony will be attended by Thomson Foundation CEO Nigel Baker، President of Rotary (Britain & Ireland) Eve Conway and the President of Commonwealth Journalists Association Rita Payne.
The theme for the conference is “future of the journalism in the digital age”.
