PPM members have been asked to take back any money if they had paid to the party to take part in the local council elections.
Speaking at a press conference held today, the Financial Secretory of PPM, TourismMinister Moosa Zameer said that the party does not run on funds of donation from general members. He said that, if any money is to be taken from the members, it should be done with the approval of the part council.
He said that the council did not decide to take any fees from the members of the party.
Also speaking at the conference, PPM PG leader Ahmed Nihaan said that according to the party by-laws council meetings should be held minimum twice a month, but the council has convened only thrice the whole year.
Nihan said that a committee was selected in the 3rd council meeting to work on the local council elections. He said that even though, a committee was formed, now all the work related to the elections are being done by another group which does not have a real mandate.
The VP of PPM, Abdul Raheem said that all party statements and resolutions should have the signature of the SG or someone who is senior than the SG. He said that hence the statements released with the Deputy SG would be invalid.
In addition, he said that the last date to apply to run as a PPM candidate for council elections is not 16th of this month and that they will announce the dates and procedures later. He assured that those who want to run as PPM candidates will get that opportunity.
