President signs books of condolence in memory of Mohamed Rasheed

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has signed the book of condolences opened in memory of Mohamed Rasheed at the Dhivehi Language Academy.
In the condolence book placed at the Dhivehi Bahuge Academy, President Solih wrote Mohamed Rasheed was a skilled writer who left his legacy in the Dhivehi language and that his passing was a huge loss to Dhivehi linguistics. The president concluded his statement by expressing his deepest condolences to his family.
Mohamed Rasheed died at 72 years of age while receiving treatment at ADK Hospital after suffering a stroke. He had made significant contributions to Dhivehi literature, particularly to Dhivehi poetry, and served as a civil servant for over 30 years. He won numerous awards including the National Award of Recognition for his writing in Dhivehi and Arabic in 1988, the National Award of Recognition for his poetry in 2005, and the Lifetime Achievement Award by Maldives Media Council in 2018.
He also won the National Award of Honour conferred by President Solih in 2020, for his contributions to Dhivehi literature and the Dhivehi language.
