The Maldives has attracted over 700,000 travelers so far in 2023, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
The ministry in their recent statistics revealed that as of May 05, the total number of tourist arrivals in the Maldives stood at 710,645; which is a 17.5% annual increment compared to the corresponding period in 2022, during which arrivals stood at 604,730.
Tourist arrivals to the Maldives exclusively from May 01 to 05 stood at 22,361 which is a 19.9% decline from the 27,926 arrivals recorded during the same period last year. However, compared to the same period in 2021, which recorded 13,534 arrivals, this year’s figure indicated a 65% increase.
The total tourist arrivals in May 2019 stood at 21,637, indicating that the arrivals so far in May 2023 have exceeded that number by 3.2%.
The daily arrival average for the year is 5,685 while from May 01 to 05 the average arrival is 4,472. The annual average duration of stay for tourists is 8.1 days, while from May 01 to 05 the average duration of stay is 7.4 days.
