His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, received His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu in audience this afternoon at Lusail Palace in Doha, Qatar.
During the audience, President Dr Muizzu reiterated, on behalf of the people of the Maldives, his condolences following the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, former Amir of the State of Qatar.
The Amir and the President also discussed the longstanding brotherly ties between the Maldives and Qatar, reaffirming their shared commitment to further strengthening the close cooperation between the two countries.
President Dr Muizzu's official visit reflects the significant contributions of the late former Amir to the Maldives. He played a pivotal role in strengthening Maldives–Qatar relations, including facilitating the commencement of Qatar Airways' operations in the Maldives, the establishment of Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani School in Laamu Atoll, and the construction of Masjid Al Sheikh Qasim bin Al Thani in Hulhumalé.
